July 16, 2003
-- Pranalytica installs Nitrolux-200 ammonia analyzer for ambient air quality monitoring in Bondville, Illinois with the
Lake Michigan Air Directors Consortium
(LADCO) and the Midwest Regional Planning Organization for an independent intercomparison with an ion chromatograph conducted by the Illinois State Water Survey. The results of this intercomparison will be presented in a poster October 22, 2003 at the National Atmospheric Deposition Program's
Ammonia Workshop
sponsored by the EPA (See Above).

May 15, 2003 -- Pranalytica begins
SBIR Phase I contract awarded by the
USDA to develop laser-based sensors for monitoring livestock ammonia
emissions. According to the USDA and a recent report by the National
Academy of Sciences, ammonia emissions from agricultural operations are
a high-priority problem for air quality regulators because of ammonia's
role as a precursor to particulate matter formation. For this SBIR
program, Pranalytica will work with
Dr. Frank Mitloehner,
an Air Quality Extension Specialist in the Department of Animal Science at UC-Davis, to
develop ammonia sensors that are suitably sensitive and rugged for
standalone field deployment in the hostile conditions of an agricultural
facility.
Jan. 28, 2003 -- Pranalytica recently
attended the International Forum on Process Analytical Chemistry (IFPAC)
January 22-24 in Scottsdale, AZ, to exhibit its products and give a
technical talk, "Sub-ppb detection of trace gases: Industrial, Medical
and Homeland Security Applications." (See picture of M.Webber and M.
Pushkarsky at IFPAC)
Dec. 23. 2002 -- Dr. C.
Kumar Patel is featured in the Special Anniversary Issue of Forbes
magazine as the inventor of the CO2 Laser, one of "85
innovations that changed the way we live" (page. 168, December
